PASSION

Do YOU have it? One definition of passion: an endless amount of energy to persue your goal! Love it!

That was the topic of the speaker last night at our FIRST OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL Baseball Parent's Meeting!! One of the guest speakers is the Bullpen Coach for the Florida Marlins. He was very interesting and inspiring. He definately had all the boy's attention, including Tuck!
I am very excited to get started on this new journey Brandan has worked so hard for. They start try outs today and last for a week or two. He will be scrimmaging tomorrow as part of the tryouts, so in between basketball, we will be baseballin'! Thank goodness for the sunshine tomorrow.
Have a wonderful Friday, I know I am!

Proud Day

Tucker received the most awesome awards yesterday! The biggest was for Languarge Arts/Reading. He is reading at a level 25!! This isn't even a first grade level. He reads chapter books now! AMAZING! He reads to me every night for about 15 minutes and it is unbelievable the words he is able to figure out. He has a super teacher, Mrs. Thompson. What a smart guy!
Keyto had Student Council yesterday and had to take the roll call. He was very talkative when I picked him up from school, good things are happening! He has been quite the social butterfly lately. Two birthday parties in the last couple of weeks and another one this Sunday. All that along with successful soccer/basketball games makes a very happy Keyto.
We have a parent baseball meeting this Thurs. night. I am very excited to get into High School Baseball. I'm looking foward to meeting and hanging out with the Moms. He will be scrimmaging all day Saturday, luckily the temps are supposed to go back into the 60's by then.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
K

Basketball

Finally, some basketball pictures (sorry they are so dark, you just can't get a good pic in those gyms)! Yesterday was full of games. Tuck and Keyto both won their basketball games. Keyto won his soccer game AND scored two more goals! The McMillion boys were on fire!
Also, more big news. Friday was report card day and all of them had EXCELLENT grades. Keyto had all 90's with his lowest grade being a 95, Brando had all A's and B's, Tuck was all good comments and accomplishments. I have an award ceremony to attend in the morning for Tuck!
Hope you are having a nice and peaceful Sunday. It is cool here, but the sun is shining bright!

K

Summertime??

Did I just wake up from a long winter's nap? Is it summer? Must be...the temps here are right at 80 degrees? It sure is nice!

I was dreaming of green grass, pink roses, sundresses and flip flops!

Hope you are having a good day!

Wallace

Otherwise known as Wally, or our chokit yab (as Tuck called him a few years ago). Now Wally used to live in Lubbock in a really cool doghouse my dad built. This was a plain on the inside, not tricked out like my Dad's dog's house. Not tricked out...because Wallace would chew up the carpet lined walls, drag out the blankets into the frigid wind chill, and we didn't trust him with a heat lamp since there was no telling what he might do to it. The only time he was allowed in the house (mudroom actually) was with temps in the 30s or there was snow and ice on the ground.

BUT...here in Dallas (where it is way warmer in the winter) he has become quite spoiled! He is very scared of the North Texas thunderstorms, so instead of seeking the dry and warm shelter of our shed (sealed and has blankets) he runs from door to window to window in the rain, wind, sleet, and oh lets say 40-60 DEGREE weather (when there is no rain or snow) wanting in to sleep in this teeny tiny cage (click on pic to see him closer)! He uses the side for his pillow. I told my oldest son the other day he needed some bumper pads like in a baby crib!

He is just spoiled rotten. When I go in the kitchen in the morning to start my coffee, he raises one eyebrow and opens one eye to look at me. To get him out to pee, I have to crawl halfway into the cage to grab his collar and pull him out! Crazy Dog! Gotta love 'em though.

Have a great Thursday! It's my last day at work for the week. My best friend is coming in from home and we are spending Friday and Saturday doing girl stuff! I am soooo looking foward to it.

Hugs,
K

A New Year

One of my 2009 goals is to step out of my comfort zone and take more classes online and in person, comment more on blogs, and do a few online swaps! Well, that seems like more than one goal, but to me they are all tied in together to participate in more creative and social ventures. Maybe that should be the actual goal...

So as soon as our local sb store has a class I am interested in I am going to sign up! Last year I did two of Teresa McFayden's EZines and loved them and actually created many of the projects.

This year I have signed up for ArtsyMama's A Year of Color. So far, it is fabulous! There are project, great link, decorating, party ideas...it is endless inspiration. I believe I am also going to sign up the first swap associated with this class!

Lisa Pace is also doing a Cupid's Workshop. Her work is beautiful. I am excited to learn some new techniques from her.

And finally, I am once again taking Teresa McFayden's BellaEzine. She is so talented. I wish I had half her stash of vintage goodies. She has such a cute way of wording her posts.
If you sign up for any of these let me know so I can keep a look out for you!
Have a creative and blissful day!
Hugs,
K

Frustrating

Just to vent a minute (since I rarely do it) so I don't explode. You know how it is...something you can't get out of your head, but don't like confrontation.

It is so frustrating to find out AFTER the fact that Someone is mad at You for something You agreed to do with a Third Party (innocent bystander) because Third Party was excited about doing it, but that Someone had also done in the past, so therefore you figured it was acceptable!

Also, to find out that You were supposed to have done something, which You knew nothing about (was discussed among two Other People unbeknownst to You) and yet, You are the bad guy. Frustrating when You have no details as to what the plan is, yet You are supposed to plan for it and be prepared I guess for whatever was decided on without including You (sorry for run-ons, spelling, etc.).

Thanks a bunch, I feel better for getting it out of my system...carry on and have a gret day.
Hugs,
K

Calling the Tooth Fairy

Tucker lost his first top tooth today at school. He said they were watching a movie and he was wiggling it and it fell out! Thank goodness! I am usually the one to pull them and it gives me the heebiejeebies! He was very excited since he has only lost two teeth. I guess since he got his first FOUR teeth all at once they are taking their time coming out. He looks so cute! He is very excited for the Tooth Fairy to visit since all his Christmas money has been spent! He has high expectations on what the tooth fairy will leave.
Today was a busy day at work. It is starting to pick up again. Although, we got some bad news at the store today. Well, actually it's good for me, but bad for a couple of the other girls. Corporate is cutting our hours. It's only 3 hours! I am grateful to still have a job and it really gives me a little more time with the boys AND allows Brent to go to work on time at least one day a week. It could be way worse...I just feel bad for the single mom who struggles.
Brando has finals this week so he has been studying hard. Keyto has benchmarks this week and lots of basketball. Tuck has normal school and lots of basketball. Both boys won their games on Saturday. The both had quite a few shots on the basket, but no points. Tuck is handling the ball really well and has started making a few shots in practice. I think he is getting use to the height of the goal and building up those muscles.
Gotta go help Brando study. Have a good Tuesday.

K

100th Post and a Tribute

Happy 100th post to me! I can't believe I actually made it. Of course, it took me longer than it would most people, but I did it.
I wanted my 100th post to be special, so I want to make it a tribute to my Uncle George.

He is married to my Dad's sister, the Aunt that we celebrated her 60th birthday back in November. My uncle is a son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He has four amazing children and two adorable grandchildren. My Aunt and Uncle have been a very important and active part of my boys lives since the day my oldest was born.

He is very special to all of us. When we lived in Lubbock, he came to practically every one of my boys sporting events. The only time he or my Aunt missed was if they had another engagement or was not feeling well, which rarely happend. They were there rain, wind, blowing dirt, or freezing wind chills. Since we moved here I really miss watching the games with them and my Dad.

The other memory that stands out to me is the time he spent with Tucker. I would call Uncle George to see if he had a little time to watch Tuck while I got my haircut or went to a PTA meeting. He always said yes! He and Tuck have a special relationship as Great Uncle and nephew. I would pull up in front of their house and there they would be sitting in the porch swing just chatting away.

My uncle has been fighting cancer for almost two years now. He is strong and has fought hard. He and my Aunt are on our minds everyday. We love you guys!

I thank you all so much for reading my blog and for the love and friendship. I know you are busy and usually just read and don't comment, but leave me a comment and I'll pick a name for a gift-away. I love to mail little somethings to friends, so leave a little note. I have crafting and non-crafting readers, so when I know the recipient, I'll post the gift. I want to give the commenter something they will enjoy.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!

K

BLISS

We had a blissful day yesterday. All five of us at home just hangin' out. It was total bliss! I am really enjoying my new word. It makes me happy!

I baked brownies yesterday afternoon and chocolate would be one of my top 10 blissful joys.

Holding Tucker is probably short lived as he is getting older and may not happen too much longer. I love snuggling with him. I take a deep breath and just relax. Total Bliss!

I am saving all these pictures in a folder on my computer so that I can have them printed to create my album.
It has been raining here all day and is very very cold! I am looking foward to a warm evening at home with my boys. I am sure they have lots to tell me about their first day back.
Hugs,
K

The New Year

The first few pictures are of the boys on New Years Eve. Tuck is outside with sparklers and the flash wasn't very good. We went to the neighbors house for a little get together. The next two pictures are at the Galleria on the 1st. It was decorated so cool. They had lights on the palm trees on the 3rd level. The Christmas tree was in the middle of the ice skating rink on the basement level and went to the top of the 3rd level (actually 4 stories tall).
I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.
