My Space

Today, I thought I would post some girl stuff. I post a lot about the boys for family, so today, since we didn't have ANY games OR practices over the weekend, I will post some of my favorite items and spots in my house.

It is funny how easily this room has come together. It really is complete bliss for me when I have some downtime to play in here. I have never had my own craft room before. When we bought the little couch for this room (see below), the cover had some pink in it, which worried me since I have always tried to stay away from decorating with pink because of the boys. When you are out numbered, it is kinda hard to go against the troops wishes. Brent said no problem. I have found so many cute items with the combinations of red, pink, and green.

This is my desk that Brent made for me from two old doors that we got from my BFF (you will notice in this post she has a huge influence on my decorating)! I painted the desk and chair (found at a garage sale). There are crystal cabinet door knobs on the top corners of the chair. The chair cushion is covered in red polka dot fabric. I think I am going to recover the lampshade in Tanya Whelan's fabric Darla. The little table under the desk and the book shelf my hubby made with my directions. I had him line the outside edges of the shelf with a decorative wood trim. My pens and pencils are in an antique china sugar holder with pink flowers. The little green sign under the shelf says petals. I love flowers! The heart with wings and fabulous came from a fabulous booth at Canton!

This is the shelf over my desk. It was a birthday gift from my BFF, Trista. It was black and I painted it white! Those little jars I got just last week at an estate sale for less than $2.00! They will also be good for the little wildflowers Tuck brings in for me. I will show you some of my other finds in tomorrow's post.

This is where I create. I love my chandelier. It came from Target and was apart of Rachel Ashwell's line.
That candleabra was one of my favorite Ebay finds/purchases. The pink frame with the crowns is another Birtday gift from BFF. Doesn't she have great taste! I am so blessed!

Wow, there is another birthday gift from BFF, the pillow with the pink chandelier came from TeresaSheeley's esty shop. I told BFF about this shop because a lot of her stuff is sooo Trista. Next thing I knew that pillow was in the mail for me! I found the picture at a thrift store stuck under some other "junk". That is my pink/green/red couch from Ikea. Dudley (the cat), the boys and I all love it. Very comfy.

This is an heirloom that my Great Grandmother Kate crocheted. My sweet Aunt Ann had it framed for us when we got married. It is very special to my heart. I will have to post another time about all my teapots I have inherited.

Just a sweet sign to remind me each day. BFF also bought the same sign. Great minds think alike! Now if we could just get her to post on her blog...that would be some major eye candy!

I found this little metal magnet board at Target and loved the colors, bird and saying.

So, this is my very own room for crafting, blogging, reading, pilateing (i know it's not a word, but it sounds good with the others), and watching TV. It is at the front of the house with a pretty arched window looking out into the front yard. Many times, as I 'm crafting, I will feel little eyes piercing into me...yep, there they are, either mine or one of the thirty kids we have in the neighborhood checking to see what I am up to and give a friendly wave and say "hi Ms. Kerri"! I love 'em all. It is the best thing about our neighborhood.

We had a great weekend. It was kinda weird not having any games, but nice and mellow. Although, we will have to make up at least two of the games.

Brent and I went to the Lawn and Garden show. I got some sweet smelling soaps for a few little gifts coming up and Tuck a bluebonnet plant already blooming.I got some flowers planted, Brent mowed the back yard and sprayed those gosh awful grassy weeds that see to be taking over. We gave Wally a bubble bath and boy did he feel GOOOD afterward! I finally finally made it to Hobby Lobby (30 min. away) and spent my giftcard. Then to leave one sack behind!:( Very disappointed girl I was when I realized it was missing once I got HOME (remember 30 min. away). They were closed and wouldn't reopen until this morning. But, my hubby went and picked it up for me, so alls good!:) In that sack was a couple of cute items to go with my Paper Cowgirl Retreat I am going to. I am looking foward to some swaps with those gals over the next couple of months!
Well, this is a long post, I hope you are still with me. I hope you have enjoyed this glimpse into my little space. I know I enjoy reading about all of yours.

Have a fabulous day.
Hugs,
K

At Bat

Trying to steal First Base. Notice NICE scoreboard in background. Let me tell you....these fields were SWEET! Didn't get a picture of the stands, but it was like being at a Ranger game.

Brandan running home
B on 1st, looking to steal (of course)

B at Bat. Yes, he is #3 for High School ball. They didn't pick their numbers. I kinda like the single digit.

Waiting to bat
On Deck waiting to bat. Yes, I got all the pictures out of order, so start here and go up!
With all the rain this week, I don't know if we'll be playing baseball or soccer tomorrow. Just depends on the fields.
Have a great weekend. Hope the sun is shining where you are:)

K

A new season

Waiting for a throw in from the side

Spring Soccer has begun! We are UNDEFEATED! Whoo Hoo! Our record is 1-0! Wink!! This is big since the team didn't win a game last fall. They are pumped, let me tell you!
Keyto also played on Saturday and won 6-5! I don't have pictures since I wasn't at that game. I will take some this weekend.
Tonight we have off, yep, no sports or school functions! Can ya believe it??
I hope you have the evening off also to spend with your family and chill.
Hugs,
K

Lovin' LEGGOS

Tucker requested a HUGE 899 piece STAR WARS LEGGO set for his Birthday. We have never bought one of those big sets before. My other two aren't really the puzzle piecin' kinda kids who like that stuff and me not being a detailed hard core thinker (although I like a good old fashioned less than 500 piece puzzle) have never really pushed these tiny pieced Leggos on the boys.

BUT, my youngest is my little thinker/problem solver/puzzle put togetherer. He has always loved blocks, lincoln logs, puzzles... Anyway I call Brent from Wally World concerned over whether we should buy the $80 Leggos set Tuck requested. I was concerned mainly with WHO would be putting this together and WHEN. You know how kids are, they open it and they want to play with it immediately!

We decided on the next size down to start with and if Tuck wanted to exchange it for the requested one, he could. This one only had 688 pieces! Tuck loved it and we explained it might take until the weekend to get it put together (bday fell on Wednesday). Brent had taken the night off so that he could celebrate with us. He and Tuck got started right before bedtime...

I awoke the next morning to a completed Star Wars Clone Aircraft! Once he got started he couldn't stop! I kinda knew in the back of my mind that would happen! Wink!

It certainly helped in getting Tuck outta bed that morning!

Have a happy day!

Bluebonnets

Here is a picture of some bluebonnets I saw this weekend. They are everywhere around us, but none right here where we are...yet! I'll keep ya posted.

I took this picture from the car driver's seat with the window down at an intersection in a city just west of us where Tuck had a soccer game, which they won (more on this in another post)!

Have a great Sunday evening!

Outta Sorts

It was an unusual weekend. The first of Spring Break (Yay)! We played lots of sports and it definately was NOT our weekend to win Championships. Although to get as far as all the teams did is pretty cool. Tuck's basketball season ended Friday night when they lost in the semi-finals. He was pretty disappointed. Then Keyton's indoor soccer season ended Saturday morning with a game for first place. Both teams were awesome and played their hearts out. The scoring went back and forth the whole game with the final being 5-6. Very proud of those kids though. Later that day Keyton's team won a basketball game to put them in the Season Finale Championship game. They had not lost one game all season! It was rough. They ended up losing to the one team they wanted to beat and did beat last year. Hard losing to a team that one of your friends went to play for (was on our team) and several other school friends.

The games this weekend were so intense that by the end of Keyton's last game I had a horrible pain in my neck from holding my shoulders tensed up. It didn't help that the parents of the team we played in Keyton's championship have the worst reputation as being the WORST sports. Very rude and disrespecful. Anyway...feeling better today thank goodness. I could hardly turn my neck Saturday night!
Crazy Cat! This is DUDLEY our 16 (almost 17) year old cat! He loves to snuggle with anyone who will sit still long enough. I'm not sure what is up with this sleeping position, but he certainly was enjoying it!
Have a good week!
Hugs,
K
P.S. Can't believe I forgot to mention....I saw the first of the Bluebonnets yesterday on our way to Arlington! Whoo Hoo! So excited for spring.

Happy 7th Birthday

Love those chubby toes and rolls of fat. A friend of my oldest son (they were about 7 at the time) thought they were his muscles!

Tuck's first Christmas! Love those chubby cheeks an bright eyes!
Hi first steps! He never crawled, just rolled. He only walked a couple of days and from then on it has been a steady run everywhere he goes!

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy! We love you to The Moon and Back!!
I thought I would post some baby pics of this sweet TuckaBear of mine. These are all from his first year. He is having a great day today! Please leave him a birthday wish if you have time, he will love reading them.

All I want for MY

BIRTHDAY is my TWO front teeth and anything STAR WARS!! We had our first birthday celebration on Sunday with a repeat of last years party. A jump house at our house! This little fella is like his big bro and is a home body. I tried every way I could to talk him into going somewhere for his party. My biggest arguement being the weather in March! Turned out it was sunny and eighty degrees with a perfect breeze! Tuck kept saying before the party "it's a great day for a party huh Mom?" And of course I kept replying "it IS a great day for a party Tuck"! He also wanted to know what time it was about 100 time in the hour before the party!
He had the best time with his buddies. It is fun to see him with his little group of buds that he will grow up with. I think of my two older boys and their friends and it warms my heart to see these little six and seven year olds forming lifetime friendships. It is nice that the Moms are pretty cool too!
Per Tuck's request, we are having breakfast burritos tomorrow morning, Brent is taking him McDonalds for lunch tomorrow, chocolate cupcakes with white icing and green sprinkles for an afternoon treat at school, and Chick Fil A for dinner! He wanted the Magic Time Machine, but we will have to go there on the weekend. It is too far and not enough time on a weeknight.
Hope you are having a Happy Day! We are looking foward to some rain in the next couple of days! Will be good for the bluebonnets and other wild flowers I am soooo looking foward to.
Hugs,
K

Hawk Baseball

These are some pictures of Brandan's tournament that I mentioned in the previous post. They played 4 games total. The Championship was against Midlothian. It was the BEST game I have seen in a while. The teams were very evenly matched and played their hearts out. There were some awesome plays that you could just tell the boys were giving 125%! The umpires were for the most part pretty fair and coaches, parents, and players on both teams were well behaved.
The game went to the 10th inning (about 2.5hrs) until Midlothian finally scored 1 run. Even though we lost 0-1, the boys finally had some great competition which will give them an idea of what they need to work on, although in the whole game....only TWO errors! WOW!
The tournament was great for me too, in that I got the meet and spend more time with a lot of the Moms. I took 2 hour lunches on Thur. and Fri. so that I could drive to R.O. to see their games each day. Then on Saturday, we fed the boys Chicken Express since they had been living on concession stand food for the two previous days. They were all very nice. I felt once again like I was apart of something and belonged!

Working the field

Although Brandan got to get out of school Thursday and Friday, he worked harder those two days and Saturday than if he had gone to school. Red Oak hosted a Freshman tournament Thursday - Saturday. There were eight teams entered. The coach picked 10 kids to miss school and meet at the field at 9:15 to help work the field in between games and anything else that needed to be done. On Saturday they had to be there at eight am. On top of working, they also played one game each day Thursday and Friday and two games on Saturday (one being the Championship)!
In the last picture, the lump on Brando's shoulder is ice. He sprained his wrist on Thursday sliding into a base so when he pitched (another no hitter, along with help from his awesome defense) on Friday, favoring his wrist caused his shoulder to ache.
Brent also got to do a little work (uhmm, he supposed to be working at least). This was the first time in all the years of sports and school stuff that he got to work anything. He worked the concessions on Friday and the gate on Saturday. It was great for him since he had already missed quite a few games. He got well acquainted with the boys, dad, and coach! He was certainly in his "element".

K
